Service Description
What is Nutritional Therapy? Nutritional therapy combines the use of food, dietary plans, fasting, supplementation and moderate lifestyle changes to facilitate health and wellbeing goals. Nutritional therapists support and guide their clients to make healthier choices and facilitate good health. Health goals may include weight reduction, diabetes support, asthma improvement etc. As Hippocrates once said "let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food", nutritional therapy focuses on food as medicine to optimise health. What is Food Sensitivity? Food sensitivity results when your body reacts negatively to particular foods. Research has shown that food sensitivity can be linked to IgG antibodies produced when these problematic foods are eaten. Normally these antibodies do not have any ill-effects, but if the immune or digestive system are not functioning optimally, their presence may provoke a wide array of symptoms. Testing IgG responses to specific foods may help to identify problematic foods, which can then be removed or rotated in the diet for a specific period of time. Gut health is then improved before re-introducing foods. The test works by measuring blood levels of IgG antibodies. Symptoms of Food Intolerances: • Bloating • Constipation • Diarrhoea • Flatulence • Headaches • Lethargy • Nausea What Do We Offer? Our advanced food panel tests around 200 foods and inflammatory marker hs-CRP. Testing is performed during the nutritional therapy (in person) and requires a finger prick blood test. Results are delivered within 1-2 weeks and are more accurate than our basic food intolerance test results. Clients are emailed an in depth, personalised nutritional plan following the session. What Foods Do We Test? Over 200 foods, including: casein, egg white, egg yolk, buffalo milk, cows milk, goats milk, sheeps milk, barley, couscous, durum wheat, gliadin, malt, oat, rye, spelt, wheat, wheat bran, amaranth, buckwheat, millet, quinoa, rice, tapioca, apples, apricot, avocado, banana, blackberry, date, fig, grape, grapefruit, guava, kiwi, lemon, lime, lychee, mango, melon, mulberry, cabbage, celery, chicory, cucumber, clam, cod, crab, cuttlefish, eel, haddock, beef, herring etc!
